Search for the photoexcitation of exotic mesons in the pi+pi+pi- system.
A search for exotic mesons in the pi;{+}pi;{+}pi;{-} system photoproduced by the charge exchange reaction gammap-->pi;{+}pi;{+}pi;{-}(n) was carried out by the CLAS Collaboration at Jefferson Lab. A tagged-photon beam with energies in the 4.8 to 5.4 GeV range, produced through bremsstrahlung from a 5.744 GeV electron beam, was incident on a liquid-hydrogen target. A partial wave analysis was pe...
متن کاملPrompt muon-induced fission: a probe for nuclear energy dissipation
We solve the time-dependent Dirac equation for a muon which is initially bound to a fissioning actinide nucleus. The computations are carried out on a 3-D cartesian lattice utilizing the Basis-Spline collocation method. The muon dynamics is sensitive to the nuclear energy dissipation between the outer fission barrier and the scission point. From a comparison with experimental data we find a dis...
متن کاملMesons in the nuclear Medium
We discuss recent experimental results on the modification of hadron properties in a nuclear medium. Particular emphasis is placed on an ω production experiment performed by the CBELSA/TAPS collaboration at the ELSA accelerator. The data shows a smaller ω meson mass together with a significant increase of its width in the nuclear medium.
متن کاملRecovery and Restructuring induced by Fission Energy Ions in High Burnup Nuclear Fuel
In light water commercial reactors, extensive change of grain structure was found at high burnup ceramic fuels. The mechanism is driven by bombardment of fission energy fragments and studies were conducted by combining accelerator based experiments and computer science. Specimen of CeO2 was used as simulation material of fuel ceramics. With swift heavy ion (Xe) irradiation on CeO2, with 210 MeV...
متن کاملDoxorubicin-induced DNA intercalation and scavenging by nuclear glutathione S-transferase pi.
Glutathione S-transferase (GST) functions in xenobiotic biotransformation and drug metabolism. Increased expression of GSTpi, an isozyme of GST, has been found in cancer cells resistant to doxorubicin hydrochloride (DOX) or cis-diamminedichloroplatinum (II) (CDDP), and this increase was believed to be correlated with drug resistance of cancer cells. GST is mainly expressed in the cytoplasm; GST...
